{"id":2483,"date":"2018-12-03T15:39:08","date_gmt":"2018-12-03T15:39:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/whs60.org\/wp\/?p=2483"},"modified":"2018-12-03T15:39:45","modified_gmt":"2018-12-03T15:39:45","slug":"special-edition-58th-class-reunion","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/whs60.org\/wp\/2018\/12\/03\/special-edition-58th-class-reunion\/","title":{"rendered":"SPECIAL EDITION &#8211; 58th Class Reunion"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We certainly had a good time celebrating our 58<sup>th<\/sup> class reunion.\u00a0 We missed all of you who were not able to make it.<\/p>\n<p>A big, big thanks to <strong>Tim Lasseter Latta<\/strong> (our fearless leader), <strong>Malissa Starnes Baugh<\/strong> (our co-leader and one who continues to bless us with her organizational skills- name tags, keeping up with registration, all the money and our head-count, paying all the bills, ordering the cakes, napkins, etc.),\u00a0 <strong>Howard Dudgeon<\/strong> (furnishing us with the Memorial Books of our dearly departed graduates) and <strong>Janet Hurta<\/strong> (our adopted graduate and wife of <strong>Glen Hurta<\/strong> who has kept our directory for more years than I can remember).\u00a0 Special Thanks goes to <strong>Gayla Miller Webb<\/strong> and <strong>Linda Phelps McKee<\/strong> (who both have been responsible for our decorations for what must be every single reunion we have ever had and to <strong>David McPhail<\/strong>, <strong>Karen Shinault<\/strong> and all those who were on the telephone committee:\u00a0 you did an awesome job!! \u00a0Without each of these folks, our reunion would not be what I have heard some folks say:\u00a0 the \u201cbest reunion we have ever had\u201d.\u00a0 It takes a village\u2026.and unless you have ever worked on the reunion, you have no idea just how demanding it is.<\/p>\n<p>A cold front came through Waco with rain\u2026.a lot or rain\u2026. so much rain that golf was rained out.\u00a0 Although the weather was cold and damp outside, inside the Phoenix room our graduates were wrapped in the warmth of love and friendship, reliving times when all of us were young and carefree.\u00a0\u00a0 Folks came as far away as from Buffalo NY,\u00a0 Florence SC, Paris TN, New Mexico (5 different graduates from NM), Louisiana, and Indiana.<\/p>\n<p>The food was wonderful, <strong>Ralph Sparks<\/strong> (class of WHS 59) entertained us with oldies on his keyboard, and the camaraderie of all was unsurpassed.\u00a0 I could not believe that so many 76 year-olds could get out on the dancefloor and \u201ccut a rug\u201d as they did.\u00a0 Ralph was supposed to play for about 15 minutes or so\u2026.but popular demand turned that into one hour.\u00a0 In our hearts it was like we were once again enjoying our teen-aged classmates at a sock hop.\u00a0 Sweet memories.<\/p>\n<p>There are several who want a 60<sup>th<\/sup> reunion\u2014especially since we are the class of \u201960.\u00a0 However, there is no leader so if you want a final reunion, someone is going to have to step up to the plate and organize it.\u00a0 Otherwise, the 58<sup>th<\/sup> was our final hoorah.<\/p>\n<p>Again, so glad to have seen everyone and so sorry we missed you if you were unable to make it.\u00a0 <strong>Robert \u201cLittle Red\u201d Wilson<\/strong>, has his take on the reunion which is in the comments sections.\u00a0 Robert has always been so great to bless us and our food each and every time we meet.\u00a0 It is only fitting for him to close this special edition with his AMEN.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We certainly had a good time celebrating our 58th class reunion.\u00a0 We missed all of you who were not able to make it.
